Author of The Number Nobody Talks About
Since 2020, I've closed 70+ boutique fitness studio deals with an 80% success rate — four times the industry average. I speak about how to prepare, price, and sell your studio, and walk away with the exit you spent years earning.
About
My wife Karson and I bought a yoga studio in San Diego, grew it into a thriving community business, and sold it for five times what we paid. That experience — seeing the deal from the owner's side — became the foundation for everything I do now.
I created Boutique Fitness Broker in 2020. It's the only M&A firm focused entirely on boutique fitness — Pilates studios, yoga concepts, cycling brands, strength gyms, and small chains that live and die on community and retention. We've closed 70+ transactions totaling nearly $30 million, with a close rate around 80%. The industry average is closer to 20%.
When I speak, I share what those deals taught me — real numbers, real mistakes, and what the best exits have in common. Most owners are closer to a great outcome than they think. They just need to know what to work on, and when.
Speaking Topics
The same things that add value before a sale — clean financials, a team that runs without you, systems that transfer — also make your business easier to run right now. I break down what actually drives the price up, what doesn't matter as much as you think, and the moves you can start making today.
My wife and I bought a yoga studio, grew it, and sold it for 5x what we paid. That deal changed everything. I'll walk through how I built a brokerage in a niche nobody knew existed, the patterns I've seen across 70+ transactions, and what separates a life-changing exit from a disappointing one.
Competing offers, due diligence, SBA financing, keeping it quiet, and the emotional weight of letting go of something you built. I cover what to expect at every stage, where deals tend to fall apart, why some owners walk away with more than others, and what you can do now to be one of them.
The Book
For boutique fitness studio owners who are starting to think about what's next — and want to make sure they're ready when the time comes.
You've built something real. You know what it took. And at some point — maybe now, maybe in two years — you're going to want to turn that into something that actually changes your financial life.
The owners who get the best outcomes don't wing it when they decide to sell. They've been making the right decisions for a year or two before anyone even knew they were thinking about it. That's the window this book is about.
I've been on every side of these deals — as a studio owner, a buyer, and now the broker. What I've seen is that the owners who get life-changing exits aren't luckier. They just started preparing earlier. This book shows you exactly how.
The Number Nobody Talks About is your exit number — the one most owners never figure out how to reach. This book is how you get there.
